王国维在《人间词话》里说：“古今之成大事业、大学问者，必经过三种之境界。”这“三种境界”是分别用三首宋词的句子写的!

第一种境界：“昨夜西风凋碧树。独上高楼，望尽天涯路。”(晏殊：《蝶恋花》)形容人们在初学阶段有如登高望远，在无限辽阔的知识领域面前打开了眼界，意识到自己学问不足，知识有限。

第二种境界：“衣带渐宽终不悔，为伊消得人憔悴。”(柳永：《凤栖梧》)形容在强烈的求知*驱使下，潜心专注，废寝忘食在学习，身体消瘦了不后悔，脸色憔悴了也值得。

第三种境界：“众里寻他千百度;蓦然回首，那人却在灯火阑珊处。”(辛弃疾：《青玉案》)这里借描写一个青年在元宵节的灯火人群中找到情人的经过，比喻真知得来有个“千百度”的探索和钻研过程，一旦有所发现、有所收获，会体尝到莫大的幸福与欢乐。
