每年的节日有很多，端午节在每年的农历五月初五，传说是为了纪念屈原而设立的，又称端阳节、午日节、五月节、艾节、端五、重午、午日、夏节。虽然名称不同，但各个地方的人们过节的习俗是相同的。每到这一天，家家户户都是挂艾叶菖蒲、吃粽子、喝雄黄酒、挂香袋，有的地方还要赛龙舟。

端午节这天，奶奶准备了粽叶、糯米、肉，包起了粽子。我学着奶奶的样子拿起一大一小两片粽叶，折出一个角，往折好的角筒里放一把浸泡好的糯米，塞了一块大肥肉，再用糯米盖严实。我开始有点沾沾自喜，心想：真简单，一点都不难。可是当我想把粽叶盖好的时候就遇到麻烦事了，怎么盖都不行，老是有糯米掉下来。我急得团团转，幸好有奶奶帮我，她让我把糯米弄掉了一点，这才盖起来。最后一步是把粽叶用绳子扎起来，粽子一定要包的紧才好吃。包粽子是手艺活，看起来简单，其实一点都不容易。

晚饭后，妈妈让我把今天的英语给读了。我把录音机打开，可觉着太快了，听不清楚，就把它给调慢了，然后就跟着它一起读。可读了好时间，也读不好，它太长了，这时妈妈给我说“没关系，在多读几遍就好了。老师要求你们要会唱，但你只要能读下来也可以，明天我们在跟着学唱也行。”妈妈陪着我又跟读了好长时间，终于会读了，虽然还不是太熟，可我觉着自己也挺棒的。

我只好在读和不读中排徊，心中既矛盾，又难受，真不能狠下心选一个呀，好想两个都选。但是“鱼和熊掌——不可兼得”，事实，摆在眼前。过了好一会儿，我想到，如果我再犹豫不决下去，没时间了，那两件事都办不了了。于是，我选择了读英语。因为这次听写过了，就挽救不回来了，而周日仍可以去体育馆了，还是选只能做一次的好了……

事实证明，我的选择没错，我如愿以偿地借到了书，我感到非常开心，有付出，就有收获。
