记得有一次，他在外面画画，引起了许多人的围观。有大人，有小孩，有英姿飒爽的小伙子，也有亭亭玉立的大姑娘。他还没动笔，旁边就有人议论纷纷，有的说：“这孩子未免有点太骄傲了吧，年纪轻轻就到外面来显摆，太自不量力了吧”。又有人说：“别看他年纪小，说不定还真有点功夫呢”。还有的说：“我敢肯定，这孩子也没什么”。

“他开始动笔了！”一个小女孩叫道。“他这次画的是梅花”！一个小男孩喊道。只见“小凡高”有时工笔细描，将梅花的每条枝、每片叶、每朵花一丝不苟地画下来，像姑娘绣花那样细致；有时又挥笔速写，很将梅花的动态画下来，仿佛梅花在瑟瑟寒风中左右摇摆。一刻钟过去了，半小时过去了，一小时过去了，他越画越激动，越画越带劲，他好象已经和梅花融为一体了！不知过了多久，一张画完成了！四周响起了雷鸣般的掌声，旁边观看的人都异口同声地说：“画得好！画得好！”
