保护绿色金铃蛙，是悉尼“绿色奥运”最著名的故事。绿色金铃蛙是一种大毒青蛙，体长5～8厘米，寿命可长达15年，它曾经是澳大利亚境内一种颇为常见的动物，但是随着城市开发的脚步，其身影日渐稀少。1992年，当这种毒青蛙在霍姆布什湾地区被再次发现时，悉尼奥组委已经完成了对奥运村的整体规划工作。面对“失而复得”的珍稀动物，悉尼政府决定对绿色金铃蛙进行特殊保护，保护地被选定在奥林匹克公园地区。为此，悉尼奥组委修改了原定将该沼泽地迅速填土以修建奥运会场馆的计划，并追加投资40万澳元，为绿色金铃蛙采取了专门的特殊保护措施：修建特别的围栏和地下通道，以免它们被穿越的车辆碾死。

老橡树与奥运博物馆

1993年，国际奥委会奥林匹克博物馆新馆落成。为了保护环境，不破坏周围的景观，整座博物馆采取了依傍地形、向下发展的建筑原则，这座5层的建筑物有3层位于地下，而地上部分与环境融为一体。为保留一棵有着上百年历史的古橡树，设计者不惜几易其稿，修改施工方案，最终使这棵与现代奥运会同龄的老橡树与博物馆共存。

奥林匹克博物馆新馆的规划设计体现了国际奥委会对环保的高度关注，显现其要在世界环保事业中做出表率的决心。如今，环境已成为奥林匹克主义的第三大支柱。

国内首座“绿色大桥”

正在建设的北京奥林匹克森林公园，被北五环高速公路横贯，正好把森林公园自然分割成南区与北区。

为了不让森林公园中的生态链因此中断，一条横跨北五环路的“生态廊道”被专门设计出来。这条“生态廊道”的外形就像一座过街天桥，桥上种植着乔木、灌木，白天有鸟儿在林中飞翔，有松鼠在枝头跳跃；夜晚有青蛙在丛中鸣叫，有萤火虫在空中闪动……

建成后，桥面的各种植物，营造出适宜昆虫和小型哺乳动物生长的“近自然”环境，并与森林公园南、北区混为一体。据了解，建成后的“生态廊道”，长200余米，将是国内首个城市“绿色大桥”。

绿色出行，奔向奥运

为保障2008年奥运会召开期间的环境质量，同时也为奥运会积累经验，提供科学依据，504家车友俱乐部、民间环保组织、大学生社团、企事业单位和首都新闻媒体发起了“少开一天车”活动，倡议市民选择绿色出行方式，在“好运北京”赛事期间不开车或少开车，选择绿色出行，为实践绿色奥运作出自己的贡献。

“为了首都多一片蓝天，我们每月少开一天车”活动自去年发起以来，进行了广泛的宣传和动员，组织开展了一系列有影响的活动。“绿色出行”的理念得到了广大市民的有力支持，成为展现首都新风尚的窗口。
