清代帝王中最有同性恋嫌疑的当属乾隆。《清稗类钞·异禀类》记录了一个妃子的死。说，清世宗(雍正帝)的一个妃子，美貌娇艳。乾隆十五岁那年，进宫办事，从那妃子身边过，看见妃子对着镜子梳头，乾隆心性天真，便上去从后面捂住那妃子的双眼，想与妃子开个玩笑。妃子哪里知道是太子，被乾隆这么一捂，吓了一大跳，顺手把梳子朝后砸了过去，正好砸在乾隆的脸上。乾隆一疼，立刻放手。第二天，世宗发现了乾隆脸上的小伤疤，问他怎么弄的，乾隆不肯说。后来在严厉斥责之下，乾隆才如实说。太后闻听，怀疑妃子调戏太子，立刻把那个美貌妃子赐死了。乾隆大哭，把一根手指染成红色，在妃子的脖子上点了一下，说，“是我害了你，如果魂灵保佑，那就让你在二十年后和我相聚吧。”

乾隆中叶，和珅以满洲官学生的身份进宫做了銮仪卫，具体工作是抬轿子。有一天，乾隆爷想外出，仓促之间找不到黄盖，乾隆爷问四周人等：“这是谁的过失？”和珅连忙说：“典守者有不可推卸的责任！”乾隆循声一看，觉得和珅这人非常眼熟，却又想不起在哪里见过。回宫之后，回忆自己从小到成年之间的事情，猛然间觉得和珅与那位因为自己而受牵连死去的妃子面貌相似。于是密召和珅入宫，仔细观看他的脖子，发现“指痕犹在”。乾隆爷认定眼前的和珅就是那美貌妃子转世，对和珅“倍怜之”。之后，和珅的仕途一路扶摇，终至相位。乾隆爷即将退位时，对和珅说：“我和你关系非同寻常，后人将不容你。”果然，嘉庆帝即位不久就把和珅赐死。

这则记载于《清朝野史大观》中的文字传奇至极却大有可信之处，否则，以乾隆爷的明察秋毫，怎能不知和珅巨贪？所以不查办他，大概正是因为君臣之间的某种特殊关系。
