Huamei School is a international school. So today I want to talk about some differences between east and west. What are the major differences between Chinese and western ？I wonder how many things do we know about the difference between west and east? Although I can’t tell you exactly , I want to talk about it in the following three parts. They are food, dressing and living styles.

First, food. In China, we prefer noodles, rice , as the main course. We like cooking a lot of delicious dishes, We sit together, and taste the dishes together, , when we eating ,we like chatting and laughing, But in England or other west countries, people like eating hamburgers, chips, pizza, pasta as their main course, they eat them with vegetable salad.

Second, dressing. In China, we prefer colorful clothes, we dress them in different place, but we don’t make up; But in west countries, people dress according their visiting places, in daily times, they often wear casual clothes, but if they go to a formal places , they often wear suits, ladies wearing beautiful dresses, pretty hats. No matter how old the ladies are, they always make up.

求知是人类的本性，或者说是说有生物的本性。请注意这里的“所有”二字，这并非是不客观的。此处“求知”的意思并非是寻求知识的绝对意思，而更偏向于寻求感知。

不同生物因为脑部构造的发达与否，产生了不同的情况。大多数动物只能通过感官而获得印象和记忆，却不能总结其经验。

不过人是高级动物，能够从记忆积累经验。拥有将同一事物的屡次记忆变化为经验的潜能，经验是知识的母亲。

要注意的是，经验不是知识，或者说不等同于知识。知识明显是要高于经验的，这是毋庸置疑的。从经验所得的许多要点使人产生对这一类事物的普遍判断，这样的普遍判断如果正确就可以称之为知识了。

然而从短期来看，经验的持有者在业务上甚至比拥有持有知识者更为成功。这是不足为奇的，理由是：经验是个别的，知识是上升为理论的，是普遍的。举一个实例，这就像是一个电学家在修电线方面或许还比不上一个电路工人。

但是，我们认为知识持有者较之经验持有者更富有智慧。因为二者都知其然，但前者知其所以然，而后者则不知。我也认为最近备受推崇的大国工匠的确要比普通的匠人更应受到尊重，他们知道自己举手投足的原因。而普通工匠凭习惯性动作，或只是他人对于表面现象的传授。毫不客气地说，这与非生物的动作的相似。进行各自的机能活动，对此是不知其所以然的。

所以，与经验相比较，知识往往更为珍贵。

那么如何才能高效的获得知识，而不是陷入经验主义的泥潭。这不是一个无聊的或者远离实际问题，因为事实上我们就该由此反思。

如《农库全书》，《天工开物》……这一类代表了中国古代科技水平的作品，往往被冠以经验主义之名。原因或许会令人大跌眼镜，那便是我们或者说我们的先辈太务实，太勤劳了。

就从早期哲学家的历史来看，也可以明白，真正的智慧不是简简单单的制造学术。请注意，在这里，我并没有否定生产力对于历史发展的绝对作用。相反的，是在探讨其出现的先决条件，即智慧与知识。

古往今来人们开始各种各样的探索，都应起源为对自然万物的惊异。当然，还有一小部分起源于人的动物本能。即吃，喝，睡，繁殖。当然，这些是一切的开始，但其不能使人类成为人类。

人们先是惊异于这些自然现象的奇诡明丽，日日夜夜的猜想。逐渐带给了他们一些或对或错的解释。对一些较为重大的问题，诸如宇宙的产生以及日月与星的运行，做成说明。一个有所惊异与疑惑的人，往往自愧愚蠢。他们探索这些东西，只是为了脱离蒙昧的状态。显而易见，并无任何实用的目的。

这是可以用事实证明的，因为西方的哲学家与自然科学家们往往出身显贵，并不会担心自己的衣食住行。或者说是佛教的释迦牟尼，也是小国的王子。

这样，他们不为任何利益找寻智慧。是在自由的，漫无目的的找寻智慧。不会被利益与一时的满足蒙蔽。

反观之，或许是民族性格的差异，导致同样的一群人而出现不同的现象。孔孟主张仁义，周游列国，却没有任何国君采纳。因为治世不一道，变国不法古，王道迂阔而莫为。这是没错的，同样也是务实的。何况即便是孔孟这样的圣哲，也受到了这样的影响。往往讨论生多，讨论死少。

而汉代对于儒学的推崇，则是迎合专制的需要。这不同于亚历山大将希腊的民主思想传播到他所征服的每一寸土地（事实上如果他不这么做，马其顿帝国或许可以晚一点分裂。）

我们所知的，儒学的缺陷在新文化运动里已被批驳的体无完肤。其过分强调了人的义务，而忽视了人的权利。这一点，是雄才大略的汉武帝最需要的。在经过董仲舒一干经学家巧妙地篡改之后，有效的统治了中国人，直到1840年。

有弊也有利，这样务实的民族性格。保证了民族的稳定存在（这是别话，但本文重点论述的并非这个，所以不予详细论述），但同时远离了知识与真理之门。

这是没有必要予以责备的，因为这是历史的必然。地理条件决定了经济基础，经济基础自然而然地决定了上层建筑（这里用了马克思先生的话，但具体意思与原文还是有所不同的。），上层建筑也便影响了民族性格。

在广阔的黄河平原上，只用勤劳耕种便可以活下去。当地的统治者只要不是过分暴虐，便可以容忍。然而在希腊贫瘠的山地，饿殍遍野。便只好扑进波涛汹涌的大海，进行长期的商品交易。

众所周知，买卖最重要的就是公平与自由，大概这就注定两大文化域的不同了吧。那么这是不值得惊异的，在亚里士多德编撰完《形而上学》的同时。秦国已经凭借商鞅各种务实的举措完成了振兴。这体现的是两种文化交相辉映的壮美，而不是孰高孰低，非要争个你优我劣。

那么回到现世，我认为对于知识的求索或许更应该不计回报。因为那些各种有形的事业，往往使人陷入经验主义。而知识，或者说方法是能够应用于所有事物的。否则，便不能称之为方法了。最精确的学术往往离感觉和现实最近，也最难广而用之。从珠宝镶嵌到花草工艺，这些只是一些微末伎俩。而离感觉何时越远越远，越重推理与思考的学术往往能带来真正的社会大变革。从人文科学到自然科学，而这些却具有普世意义。

值得反思与借鉴的是，对于智慧的追逐不应带有功利性。正如号称第一学术的哲学，便是学术的学术。不然，如果只是为了务实而追求知识，人还是动物；如果是为了追求知识而追求知识，人才是真正的人。

——从《山楂树之恋》和《罗马假日》中看中西方爱情的相似性

中西方的爱情有很多的相似之处。无论是从爱情的开始、过程、结局，还是从产生爱情的原因、爱情进展的方式，屡屡可见其相似之处。

情不知所起，一往而深。无论中国，还是西方，其实爱情的源头，大多时候总是“模糊”的。在不知不觉中，爱情悄悄地萌芽，可能连爱情的主角都只是后知后觉。直到爱情的力量压倒了一切，才意识到自己已经陷入爱情之中。

在《罗马假日》和《山楂树之恋》中，乔与安妮公主的爱情、老三与静秋的爱情，其源头便是“模糊”的。我们总难以定格到某一处、某一点，他们自己亦不曾明确。何时彼此心生好感?何时彼此都动了真情?于是，人总是选择了从心所欲，选择了满足自己的内心，于是爱情双方便展开了一场不知名的恋爱。一系列的续集只待岁月的沉淀，恋情逐渐升级。情不知因何而生，而后却已一往情深。

“曾经沧海难为水，除却巫山不是云。”不知道，乔后来是否会遇到让他更心仪的女孩，安妮是否邂逅另一场爱情;也不知道，在静秋的生命里，是否真正迎来山楂树开花之际。可是，从乔与安妮的深情凝视中，从静秋撕心裂肺的挽留声中，我们应该看到也听到了，他们的心声：自从你闯进来我的生命中来，其他一切皆成过客。我喜欢你，地久天长。

《罗马假日》里，乔与安妮公主的爱情之旅只是一日之游，共和国广场，罗马斗兽场，许愿池，真理之口，天使城……短短二十四小时的邂逅，就成就了一段永恒的浪漫爱情。《山楂树之恋》中，老三与静秋可谓是没有过什么浪漫的约会或是爱情之旅，不过只是老三的默默帮助，以及两人一起私下谈心，简单的自行车之旅，然而这对于他们来说，那段简单的经历，便是美好而浪漫的爱情旅程。

为了爱情，无所谓背后的功成名就。在这一点上，中西方有着很大的相似之处。爱情似乎是个令人琢磨不透的东西，明明是抽象的、无形的，但却有着强大的力量。原本为了利用公主的身份炮制独家新闻、一举谋得厚利的穷记者乔，本来一心努力通过留校工作以便帮助家里改变现状的静秋，却在不知不觉中，乔放弃了重大商机利益，静秋对于初衷也不再那般地执着……这并不是说他们为爱迷失了头脑，而是，爱情的力量如此之强大，实在令人情不自禁。真正的爱情在很多时候似乎胜过了生活里的一切;为了爱情，很多东西似乎都成了“将就”。

爱情的力量胜却无数，但中西方的爱情，在很多时候仍然是理性的。安妮公主对身份带来的“不自由”有过反抗，包括后来对爱情从心所欲的追求，但她最终并未忘却自己的责任，毅然选择了放弃美好的爱情;静秋与老三的爱情以悲剧作为结局，但静秋依旧能够走出阴影，回归现实的轨道。无论是中国还是西方，真正美好的爱情很多时候都需要经历欲望与规则的纠缠，爱情确实坚不可摧，可当爱情与其他东西进行博弈之时，很多时候，人依旧能够理性地去看待，理性地作出选择。因为，他们心里拥有的，是一份“理性”的爱，一份没有限度却又不越现实的爱。其实，这样的爱情，很多时候更能够感天动地，更加地难能可贵。

爱情力量无限，它绝不仅仅让人缠绵挂念，也会让双方学到很多东西，成长了许多。安妮公主在经历了罗马一日假期后，反而体验了自己对国家的责任，毅然返回了大使馆，为了本身的责任而果断抛弃了爱情。静秋在经历与老三的爱情之后，内心亦变得强大起来。爱情从来都不是功利化的，可真正美好的爱情时常潜藏着一股激励人的无形力量，它总在悄悄地放射着微弱的光芒，让爱情双方收获精神能量。无论结局是否圆满，爱情双方总会获得精神的饱满，或是灵魂的蜕变。

也许疏离，但也长情。爱情有时候并不一定是相濡以沫，只要曾经拥有过，彼此能够有一颗守候对方的心，便是命运最美的眷顾。即便是相忘于江湖，但是，天涯地角有穷时，只有相思无尽处。中西方的爱情便是如此。可能是比翼齐飞，也难免劳燕分飞，但最终真正的爱情总会昭示：此生如若不是你，世间繁华皆虚妄。因为你，我才发现，世间留存的无尽美好。

《罗马假日》中，安妮最喜欢的是“罗马”，仅仅一日，罗马却成了她刻骨铭心的永恒记忆。也许，不仅仅是，甚至可以说根本不是，不是因为这座城市带给她的快乐，而是因为，在这座城市里，曾经有那么一个人闯进了她的生命中。因为他，从此她的回忆里多了一道色彩，灵魂里，住进了一个与众不同的伴侣。

所以说，中西方的爱情，在本质上其实并没有很大的差别。受各种因素的影响，即便由此而产生了一系列的差异，可爱情的纯粹与本真之处，却是从不因时空的转换而更易的。
